The GoHighLevel vs ClickFunnels decision looks like a tie on price, because the entry plans on both cost $97 a month. It stops looking like a tie the moment you ask what each platform was built to do, and what the invoice looks like after you start sending texts.
ClickFunnels is a funnel builder with CRM features added around it. HighLevel (the company behind GoHighLevel) is a CRM and automation platform where funnels are one tool among many.
What each platform is built for
ClickFunnels is built to get one seller from landing page to checkout with as little friction as possible. HighLevel is built for an agency or service business that needs to run follow-up, bookings and pipelines for itself or for many clients.
That difference in purpose explains almost every other gap below. A page editor designed first for funnels will feel better than one included as a bonus, and a CRM designed first for multi-channel follow-up will go further than one added later.
In a comparison published on 14 September 2026, CartMango's founder described ClickFunnels as the stronger page and funnel designer, and called HighLevel's page builder capable but rougher to build in.
GoHighLevel vs ClickFunnels pricing, plan by plan
On sticker price the two lines run almost in parallel, but the allowances are different. Here's what each tier costs and what it buys, taken from HighLevel's pricing page and ClickFunnels' pricing page.
| Plan | Monthly price | What it buys |
|---|---|---|
| HighLevel Starter | $97 | 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts and users, 24/7 support |
| HighLevel Unlimited | $297 | Unlimited sub-accounts, rebilling of phone and email without markup, basic API access |
| HighLevel Agency Pro | $497 | SaaS Mode, automatic sub-account creation, rebilling with markup, advanced API |
| ClickFunnels Launch | $97 ($81 on annual billing) | 1 workspace, 2 team members, 10,000 contacts, 50,000 emails a month |
| ClickFunnels Scale | $197 ($164 annual) | 5 workspaces, 5 team members, 75,000 contacts, 300,000 emails a month, API and webhooks |
| ClickFunnels Optimize | $297 ($248 annual) | 10 workspaces, 10 team members, 150,000 contacts, 750,000 emails a month |
ClickFunnels also sells a Dominate plan at $5,997 a year with 20 workspaces and a dedicated account manager. HighLevel also has a custom-priced Enterprise tier that adds a white-label mobile app, HIPAA compliance and a dedicated account manager. Both companies offer a 14-day trial.
The pattern is easy to read. ClickFunnels caps contacts, team seats and emails, so growth pushes you up a tier. HighLevel caps almost nothing on the entry plan, and charges you separately for what you actually send.
The usage fees HighLevel doesn't put on its pricing page
HighLevel's subscription is only part of the bill, because email, texts and phone calls run through a prepaid Agency Wallet. HighLevel's own pricing guide puts email at $0.675 per 1,000 messages on every plan.
The same rates appear in CartMango's write-up, which lists texts at $0.00747 per segment, phone numbers at $1.15 a month and outbound calls at $0.0166 a minute. It also points out that these rates sit in support documentation rather than on the pricing page.
Compare that with ClickFunnels Launch, where 50,000 emails a month are already inside the $97. Sending the same volume through HighLevel adds about $34 a month.
For a business that mostly sends email, that favours ClickFunnels. For one that lives on texts and calls, it barely matters, because ClickFunnels doesn't cover them the same way.
How the wallet behaves in practice
The wallet is prepaid. Your agency's card is charged to load credits, and usage draws them down. Once the balance falls below the minimum you've set, it recharges automatically.
Nothing about that is unusual, but it does mean the monthly cost moves with your activity. Balance and transaction history sit under billing settings in the agency view, so check them weekly in the first month, while you're still learning what a campaign costs to run.
Two details catch people out. Longer texts count as several segments and are billed as such, and carrier rates for calls follow Twilio's pricing, which varies by region.
CRM, automation and follow-up
HighLevel is the deeper CRM. It gives you pipelines you can drag a lead through, a shared inbox that puts email, texts and calls into one thread, and workflows that branch on what a contact does.
ClickFunnels has an Opportunities app for pipelines and a messaging tool for email and text. Per the same CartMango comparison, texting there means connecting your own Twilio or Bandwidth account, and calling isn't offered at all.
Say your sales process depends on a missed-call text-back or a reply that lands in the same thread as the call. ClickFunnels will feel thin.
But when the process is a page, an offer and an email sequence, HighLevel's extra depth is software you'll pay to learn and never use.
Learning curve
ClickFunnels is quicker to get live. HighLevel asks for real configuration time before it earns its keep. Our guide to GoHighLevel CRM setup for a small business sets out what to expect.

Pick ClickFunnels if you're one seller with a course, a coaching offer or a product, and your follow-up is mostly email. You get a polished builder and a bill that doesn't move with usage.
Pick HighLevel if you run an agency, serve clients in a local market, or depend on texts and calls to close. The subscription is similar, but the platform replaces several tools rather than one.
Agencies have a further reason to lean HighLevel. The Unlimited plan removes the sub-account limit, and Agency Pro adds SaaS Mode for reselling the platform under your own offer. We compared how that billing works in GoHighLevel vs HubSpot for agencies.
One caution from the other direction: CartMango quotes a Reddit commenter who ran 30 to 40 percent over budget after growing to 12 client accounts on HighLevel. That's a single anecdote, but it shows why you should model wallet charges before you quote clients, not after.
Adding AI and automation on top
HighLevel's usage fees also cover AI features, so any automation you layer on has a running cost. Work out the volume first: how many messages a lead gets, how many leads a month, and what that multiplies to.
We looked at where automation earns its keep in AI automation and CRM on GoHighLevel. If you'd rather have the workflows built and tested than assembled on a trial, our AI and automation team does that work, and our digital marketing and growth work covers the funnels and campaigns that run through it.
